The Fort Collins Temple: A Fortress of Faith

On October 15, 2016, an estimated 3,500 – 4,000 youth gathered at CSU’s Hughes Stadium to participate in the cultural celebration for the Fort Collins Temple. You can watch the entire celebration here:

That event included three Nathan Howe Music selections:

It has become a tradition in our family that I write a song when each child is baptized.  When I was thinking about our nephew Ryan and his baptism in 2012, I saw a need for a song written especially for boys that lays out the ideal pattern for their lives.  This song summarizes that plan, from baptism to Temple marriage and fatherhood. This hymn was written by Nathan Howe in the week from August 15 to August 22, 2006. Designed to encourage appreciation of the Temple, it was composed in response to a challenge from David Macfarlane.

The PDF melody with guitar chords was created in response to a request from a site visitor (see the comments below).  The chords are not the same as the SATB version, so the guitar part is not compatible with the choral version of this hymn.

Beautiful Zion, Built Above [SSA]

This hymn, loved for generations, was arranged for piano, flute, and women’s voices by Nathan Howe at the request of the gorgeous woman who would eventually become his wife. It was sung at a fireside in preparation for a pioneer trek activity at Martin’s Cove, Wyoming.
