Vocal Solo with Piano
A beautiful standard in many Christian hymnals, Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing is presented here in a dignified yet modern arrangement. This vocal solo is based on the choral arrangement available here.
This is a modal hymn that eloquently teaches the Plan of Salvation. The text by David Macfarlane was written in stages – before, during, and after his missionary service in Argentina. The hymn describes elements of the premortal life, the veil, recognizing the Spirit, and being reconciled with God through Jesus Christ, followed by stirring descriptions of the praise and good works that accompany true conversion.

This setting of A Poor Wayfaring Man of Grief was written in 2011 for use in a conference. I wrote it for performance by two of my most influential musical mentors: my father sang, and my grandfather accompanied him on the piano.
