Boys’ voices with piano
It has become a tradition in our family that I write a song when each child is baptized. When I was thinking about our nephew Ryan and his baptism in 2012, I saw a need for a song written especially for boys that lays out the ideal pattern for their lives. This song summarizes that plan, from baptism to Temple marriage and fatherhood. I Am His Son is designed for boys to sing. The range is one octave (C to C), which is ideal for changed or unchanged voices. The piano supports the voices very well. The song could easily be performed with solos on the verses and all boys together on the chorus. The text can also be adapted for boys of any age, from Junior Primary to departing missionaries. The demonstration recording features Nathan Howe.
