Brightly Beams Our Father’s Mercy [2-part]

2-part chorus (flexible) with piano and violin duet

screenshot.7

Philip Paul Bliss’s gorgeous hymn Brightly Beams our Father’s Mercy describes the Christian obligation to reflect the Savior’s light and help others find Him.  This new arrangement is simple enough to be sung by youth choirs, but it is beautiful and interesting enough for experienced choirs to use in Sunday meetings or special conferences.  This arrangement was written for an upcoming conference of the Greeley, Colorado Stake.

The voicing is flexible; the 2-part arrangement may be used as SA, TB, or 2-part mixed.  It may also be sung as a duet or small group, though the voices would require amplification.

Violin 2 can be played entirely in first position.  Violin 1 requires occasional shifting.  Both parts are accessible for experienced student violinists.  If two violins are not available, other C instruments may be substituted.  Performance without the violin parts is not recommended.

For those who are interested, a few notes about the composition are available.

  1. Beautiful Arrangement! I am using this Arrangement for a young women choir in Austria. Thank you for putting it on here for free. It’s not easy for us here in Austria because we have to find music that we are allowed to copy so that we can write the German text in, or else we’d have to write it in every copy separately and that is VERY time consuming. I’m sure I’ll be visiting your site again soon!

    1. Shalise, thanks for your comment. It’s very nice to find out about performances of my music, especially in various parts of the world. If there is something specific you are looking for in the future, please contact me. Thank you!

  2. I would like to use this for a sunday meeting in august but we only have 1 experienced violinist. Do the parts depend on one another or would 1 be ok in a pinch?

    1. I think it will sound acceptable with just the Violin I part. You can also mix and match; for example, use the violin for part I and a flute for part II. Thanks for using the music!
