Infant Holy, Infant Lowly

SATB choir with piano and opt. violin or flute

Just in time for the Christmas choral season, Infant Holy, Infant Lowly is a beautiful new arrangement for SATB choir with piano and optional violin or flute. Infant Holy, Infant Lowly (often sung with the text Stars were gleaming, shepherds dreaming…) is a memorable Polish Christmas carol.

This arrangement features beautiful, natural SATB harmony over gorgeous contrasting lines in the piano and optional violin or flute. The instrumental parts also include subtle quotations from Jesus, Once of Humble Birth and The First Noel. This is an ideal Christmas selection for church or school choirs with limited rehearsal time.

This arrangement is available exclusively from HolySheetMusic.com.

Hark, the Herald Angels Sing: Merry Christmas 2013

In the spirit of previous audio Christmas Cards, this year I present a new recording of Hark, the Herald Angels Sing.

During the week of school before Christmas break, I try to take an hour or two to record an audio Christmas card.  If you missed it, check out the recordings from 2011 and 2012.  This year’s installment is Hark, the Herald Angels Sing.  This time, I went for a fairly straightforward vocal jazz TTBB arrangement.  Sheet music will be available soon.

Hear it on YouTube or download the mp3 for free below, and share with your friends. Merry Christmas!

Far, Far Away on Judea’s Plains

SATB with piano

(audio from Jackman Music)

Commissioned in 2006 by the Women’s Glee Club at the University of Northern Colorado, Far Far Away on Judea’s Plains is now available for purchase from Jackman Music Corporation.

This Christmas selection is an exciting addition to the repertoire of any church or school choir.  The classic lyrics by John Menzies Macfarlane have been set to an exciting new tune in mixed meter.  A supportive piano part makes the flowing lines and chromatic harmony approachable for most SATB choirs.

If you have enjoyed the free offerings from NathanHoweMusic.com, please consider purchasing Far Far Away on Judea’s Plains for your choir.  It is a great addition to your choral library that will stand the test of time.  Order it directly from Jackman Music or through any major choral music retailer, like J. W. Pepper.
